Major Russian Attacks Eliminate Power Throughout Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure under attack in the region
Ukraine's energy systems have faced increased attacks in the past few days

Throughout the evening, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused electricity outages in multiple districts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Nine people were wounded while local people in eastern districts were left without electricity and faced interruptions to drinking water, per reports from local authorities.

Meanwhile, a young boy was lost their life in a distinct assault in the southeastern region in the country's south-east, as reported by local officials.

Moscow has escalated attacks on electrical systems over the last fortnight, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "concrete actions" from international partners to apply pressure on Russia.

"The necessity is not window dressing but firm measures - from the US, European nations and the G7 - in supplying air defence systems and enforcing restrictions," was stated in a social media post.

Officials stated that 450 drones and over thirty rockets struck the country's power systems, describing such assaults as "cynical and calculated" and against "essential services" as winter approaches.

Energy officials said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and technical staff were working to fix the damage.

A wave of strikes hit energy infrastructure and residential structures in Kyiv.

Multiple people injured in the attacks on the capital have been transported for medical care, per statements from local officials.

Regional authorities said the metropolitan region endured intense attacks overnight. A young boy was killed and several individuals were injured.

The strikes follow evenings of aerial attacks in the territory, parts of which remain under the control of Moscow's military.

The whole nation is in a state of readiness for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are harder to spot.

National leaders told reporters that Moscow was purposely seeking to demolish the national power system, with strikes already disrupting energy systems.

He said utility staff and officials were preparing for more assaults.
